Richard Donald Rasure September 11, 1932 - June 25, 2016








Lifelong Goodland, Kansas resident Richard Donald Rasure, 83, died Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Perrysburg Commons in Perrysburg, Ohio.

He was born September 11, 1932, at Goodland, Kansas, the son of Ila Pauline (Beers) and Paul Clifford Rasure. He graduated with the class of 1950 from Sherman Community High School in Goodland, and then attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. From 1953 through 1955, he served his country in the United States Army. He and Mildred A. Bergsma were married August 16, 1953.

On December 24, 1973, he and Sidney (Reynolds) Koehler were married at Vail, Colorado. He was retired owner of Rasure Lumber in Goodland. His memberships included St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Goodland Masonic Lodge #321, Order of the Eastern Star—Goodland Chapter #122, American Legion, Shrine, and Goodland Elks Lodge #1528. He was a past member of Kiwanis and Kansas Lumberman’s Association, in which he was a past president.

Preceding him in death were his parents, sister Marjorie Thompson, brother Robert Rasure, and his wife Sidney Rasure.

Surviving family includes sons Kevin Rasure and his wife Kim of Goodland; Randy Rasure and his wife Diane of Perrysburg, Ohio; step-sons Steve Koehler and his wife Yvonne of Danville, Kentucky; Bryan Koehler and his wife Gina of Los Alamos, New Mexico; and Mark Koehler of Oral, South Dakota; eleven grandchildren Danny Rasure and his wife Drew, Kayla Hedges and her husband Brad, Gabrielle Rasure, Jordan Rasure, Kari Fox and her husband Darren, Janelle Barrett and her husband Justin, Nelson Bergemann, Derrick Koehler, Brock Koehler, Colleen Jennings and her husband Jeremy, and Justeen Koehler; and eleven great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be Friday, July 1, at 10:00 AM MT, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Goodland, with Father Don Martin presiding. Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery. Friends may share their respects on Thursday, from 4:00 until 6:00 PM MT, at Koons Chapel in Goodland
